Introduction:

There are other kinds of equations with one unknown that are very similar to the others. The solution is the same, but you have to do just one more thing. Let’s see!

Example:

I’m going to give you an example with this equation:

5x + 16 = 41

Now, like any other equation, we need to find the unknown - x. The difference is that we don't see just x; we see 5x. Don’t worry, we can think that 5x is all the unknown (and it is exactly this).

We start searching 5x:

5x + 16 = 41

We transfer 16 to the other side:

5x + 16 = 41
5x = 41 - 16
5x = 25

Now we see two things:

 1. We know 5x

 2. When we know it, we see that it becomes an easy equation just like the others.

We solve it:

5x = 25
X = 25 : 5
X = 5

The answer:

Now we know the answer : 5. You see that it isn’t more difficult than the others.
