Introduction: 
We continue with the equations with one unknown, but we start with something much more difficult. We start solving equations with unknowns on both sides.

The equation:

The equation that we will work on in this lesson is this:

5x + 3 = 2x + 18

Now I understand what I meant by "unknown on both sides"

The solution:

The important thing to remember is that when we transfer to the other side, my goal is to put all the unknowns on one side and the other numbers on the other. Here I can use this advice. …… *. I will start by transferring + 3 to the other side

5x + 3 = 2x + 18

The equation becomes like this:

5x = 2x + 18 - 3

The next step is to transfer 2x to the other side. This way, the rule will be followed. And just one more important thing - when we transfer numbers, we transfer them with the opposite sign.

Now I have this equation:

5x - 2x = 18 - 3

I solve it like this:

5x - 2x = 18 - 3
3x = 15
X = 15 : 3
X = 5
