Let's start with something really easy

Introduction:

Solving equations is one of my favorite things to do in math. When I was little, I thought they were difficult, but then I learned how to do them and liked it.

Here is my reasoning and how I solve the equation.

The equation:

I really enjoy solving equations, but they are sometimes very easy for me. The easiest are the equations with one unknown. You actually know them from school, right?!

Example:

3 + x = 14
x = 14 - 3
x = 11

My opinion:

If you think that is very easy, I’m going to shock you. Years ago, I made many mistakes on this kind of equation because I couldn't transfer the number with the opposite sign.  It sounds a little bit funny, but it is true. Then my father gave me advice on how I can avoid mistakes or just check if it is correct. Now I am going to tell you about it.

The advice:

For example, we have to solve this equation:

56 + x = 83

Now we have to transfer 56 to the other side but with the opposite sign. Now you don’t see what sign is behind 56, but I’m going to tell you. It’s +, because if the number is not with a minus, it is with a plus.

Now if we look at the equation like this, we can easily calculate it:

+ 56 + x = 83
x  = 11

This trick is easy, but please don’t write it on important tests or exams. You can just imagine it in your head.

One more thing:

This trick is more useful in (this note isn't published yet).

End:

I hope you enjoyed this article and learned something new. If you want help with an equation, you can write it in the comments so I can publish the way to the answer. Bye!
